Camtasia 2020 (v12) – The Audio Makeover
- Major Feature: Audio Effects. This included noise gate, click removal, and a parametric equalizer. The multi-track audio system was redesigned to look more like a professional DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).
- UI: A Light Mode was introduced alongside the traditional Dark Mode.
- Cursors: You could now change the size and color of the recorded cursor on the fly.
Camtasia Studio 5 (2008) – Zoom and Pan
- Major Feature: The Zoom-n-Pan (Animations) feature. Before this, you had to record at high resolution and edit down. Now, you could record your whole screen and use keyframes to zoom into a specific menu or button.
- Output: Added support for MP4 (using the H.264 codec), which began the slow death of Flash output.
Camtasia 2022 (v22) – Workflow & Search
- Major Feature: Automatic Subtitles (Transcription). Using a built-in speech-to-text engine, Camtasia 2022 could generate subtitles for any spoken video in minutes. Also introduced a Global Search to find assets across the library.
- Export: Batch rendering (export multiple files with different settings) was added.

- Focus: Continued editing refinements, faster performance, and expanded asset libraries.
