Important Disclaimer: macOS High Sierra (10.13) is no longer supported by Apple. It receives no security updates. Only download and install it if you have an older Mac that cannot run a newer macOS (e.g., Mojave, Catalina, or later). Additionally, the official Apple download links may not work in modern web browsers; using a Mac that already runs an older OS is often required.
Part 8: Should You Upgrade or Stay on High Sierra?

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 10.13.6
(10.13.6 is the final version of High Sierra)
- Wait for the download to complete. The installer will appear in
/Applications.
What You Need:
- 16GB or larger USB flash drive (USB 3.0 recommended).
- The
Install macOS High Sierra.app in your /Applications folder.
- Your Mac’s power adapter (don’t let it sleep).
Step 3: Clean Install from the DMG / USB
- Restart your Mac and hold Option (⌥) immediately after the chime.
- Select the USB drive (yellow icon).
- In macOS Recovery, open Disk Utility → Erase your internal drive:

APFS (High Sierra’s default)
- Quit Disk Utility → Choose Install macOS → Select your internal drive.
