2.2 The "Three Truths" Mechanic
The game presents you with three contradictory accounts of what happened to Mochi five years ago:
- Truth A (The Aunt’s Diary): Mochi fell from a swing and suffered brain damage, leaving her in a permanent sleep-like state.
- Truth B (The Neighbor’s Testimony): Haru pushed Mochi during a fight over a calico kitten.
- Truth C (The Hen Neko’s Whispers): Mochi was never real. She is a shared delusion created by the family to cope with a stillbirth.
The finale forces you to choose which truth to accept. Depending on your choices throughout the series, the game reveals a fourth, hidden truth.
3.3 The "Bad" Ending (Eien no Akumu)
Reject all truths. Smash the Hen Neko with a chair from the kitchen. The game crashes to desktop. When you relaunch it, the title screen is different: "Sleeping Cousin" is crossed out. In its place: "Your Name Here." Sleeping Cousin -Final- -Hen Neko-
A webcam prompt opens. The game takes a photo of you. Cut to black. The game uninstalls itself.

3.2 The "True" Ending (Hen Neko no Gyakushu)
If you collect all 77 "Cat Memos" hidden across the series and choose Truth D (unlocked only by finishing the game twice), you learn that Mochi was a spirit bound to the calico cat that Haru accidentally killed as a child. The "cousin" is a revenant. The Hen Neko is the original cat’s ghost, corrupted by loneliness.
