3. Test Registration Clutch (Component Control)
- Navigate to Component Control → DADF → Registration Clutch.
- Activate the clutch (listen for a distinct click).
- If no click → clutch is dead or wiring is broken.
Common Causes (Ranked by Frequency)
- Roller contamination or wear – Inverter rollers lose grip due to paper dust or worn rubber. This is the #1 cause.
- Actuator or sensor failure – The mechanical flag for the inverter exit sensor may be stuck or broken.
- Paper curl or stiffness – Heavy stock or curled paper fails to reach the sensor on time.
- Debris in paper path – Small scraps of paper or labels lodged behind the inverter unit.
- Drive gear damage – Less common, but stripped gears in the inverter drive assembly cause intermittent jams.
3. Defective Fuser Drive Motor or Gears
The 343 suffix often relates to rotation. If the motor that drives the fuser roller is stalling, slipping, or drawing incorrect current (due to a seized bearing or broken gear), the machine will abort the process and display this fault. Xerox Fault Code 043-343
